The former president Olusegun Obasanjo has said oil and gas can no longer be used to feed Nigeria due to the country’s increasing number of people.
Obasanjo made this known at the weekend when chiefs of the top social-cultural group in Tiv Land in Benue State. Mzough U Tiv (MUT) made an appreciation visit to his OOPL Penthouse in Abeokuta, which is the Ogun State capital.
In the statement made available to the DAILY POST by his Special Assistant on Media, Kehinde Akinyemi. Obasanjo urged Nigerians to view the nation as one for all “to save it and restore it to what God has created it to be.”
Obasanjo stated Obasanjo that “only farming and agric business can tackle the nation’s growing population.”
He emphasized that agriculture and agribusiness would be the only way to supply the nation with food instead of oil.
The former president urged his Tiv people to concentrate on agriculture, stating that the arson he started on his land in Benue was behind him.
Obasanjo, who was honoured by the name of “Great Warrior” of Tiv land by the group of socio-politics, said he was planning to create the industry of Benue next year.
